GOD’S WORD TOUCHES YOUNG LIVES

We organized a Vacation Bible School cum Summer Camp for the children from all five villages from 2nd to 28th of May. The whole month of May was so exciting to be with the children affected by Tsunami. It was an awesome sight to see them sing praises to our Lord Jesus Christ. We prepared a special curriculum that helped them to learn about our God of creation, God of provision, God of protection, God of salvation and God for all.

We brought children from each village for one week to HBI campus. The children stayed with us for five days learning and fellowshipping with each other. Then on Saturday we went to the village and had a great celebration. The children who attended the VBS sang songs, enacted skits, recited memory verses etc. Then we had a community meal together with all the people in the village. At the end of the dinner we screened the film on Jesus called "Karunamurthy". This was our first open air evangelistic outreach.

At the end of the VBS, the children shared their testimonies with us. One of them Santosh Raj, a 12 year old boy made a church with match sticks and placed it on a sheet and wrote his village name. When we asked him how he got this idea, he made a profound statement: “I did not know Jesus before I came here. But after I came here I learnt many songs about Jesus and heard many stories from the Bible and I understood that Jesus came and died for our sins. Now I know Jesus and I want Jesus inside our village. I thought I will put up a church for him.” 

Another young boy Prem Kumar, made a breathtaking statement “Most of us did not know Jesus before we came here………….Now we know that He came into the world to save and give us life. We will not forget Jesus and He will live in our hearts.”
The children came sad and scared but they went back with rejoicing knowing that Jesus loves them very much. The parents felt they had never seen their children so joyful and filled with hope. Praise God! 

Ganesh, a  young man who came with his  friend to see what was happening at HBI, was touched by the love of Christ and was so fascinated by the people praying for the needs of the children. On the last day he said with tears, "I experienced the true and living God here and now I know to whom I should pray. I will never the same again, this VBS changed my life." The children came to HBI sad and scared, but they went back with rejoicing knowing that Jesus loves them very much. The parents felt they had never seen their children so joyful and filled with hope. Praise God!

We are thrilled at the way you gave so willingly and we are sooooooooooooo thankful to each one of you for standing with us so faithfully in serving the people affected by Tsunami. 
The tasks ahead are large – and the process long - it takes months and months of painstaking effort to rebuild entire villages. But we are committed to seeing our work through.
